Rediscovered Fanvid: FungYi – You Are My Signal Fire

7 Aug
It’s been ages since I’ve posted anything about TVB. I still tweet about it (@glazeover), nearly on a daily basis, but it’s just more difficult to sit myself down and structure my thoughts for a blog post. This morning, however, I dug out some old TVB fan videos I used to make a few years ago. If you notice, they’re all on the sidebar, but Youtube has since deleted them all. 😦
Anyway, this one here’s one of my favourites, which is what spurred on this blog post. Ray & Tavia, set to the sounds of Snow Patrol. And of course, seeing that it was made awhile back, features mostly what would be considered old-school now. Heh.

Aw, Shucks.

So, I woke up early (well okay, 10:30 is barely early, but it’s early for a Saturday morning!) and came online, did all the mandatory stuff, mail-checking, etc.

Guess what I found in my inbox?

Dang. That was one of my favourite videos. And well, they might as well remove all my other videos, if that’s the case. What about all the other fan-videos out there? I’m not talking about TVB fanvids, but what about other the other fandoms? I see tons of Grey’s Anatomy MerDer vids, lots of One Tree Hill vids, Heroes, whatever.

Oh well. 56,599 views and 93 comments later, I guess it’s okay in the end, knowing that people did kinda like it for the time that it was around.

Moses and Bernice MV – From Far Away, For Far Too Long

This here is my latest video, made to the sounds of a very beautiful instrumental piece by the talented composer, Hans Zimmer, which I heard on the movie, The Holiday (which stars Cameron Diaz, Jude Law and Kate Winslet). Again, it’s no secret that I love Moses and Bernice, and enjoy their friendship and working relationship even more. They seem to get along so well and work so well off each other on-screen that it’s hard to not imagine that there’s something going on off-screen that we all can’t see. With the recent news of them watching a football game together, I couldn’t help getting swept back into the Moses & Bernice frenzy again.

This video is based on a line from a song by Nickelback and showcases the concept of longing and pining from far away; “I’ve loved you from far away, for far too long“. Whether or not this is really true is beyond me, but well, I know myself and a lot of other wishful fans hope that it is.

All clips and pics belong to their respective owners, and all quotes are true, and courtesy of those who have translated them.

Let me know what you think! It’s the first time I’ve tried making a video like this one, with the voiceovers and with instrumental music, so I’d really like to hear your thoughts and comments! 🙂

Heart of Greed, Initial-D style

Note: Possible spoilers for it contains a pivotal scene in the Heart of Greed finale. Don’t watch if you’re spoiler-free!

Just thought I’d share this video I stumbled across that day. I think the title up there kinda says it all; you have to watch it to know what I mean! Just a short video, good for a few laughs. Enjoy!

P/S: Wow, just realised that this blog has hit the 2000-visitor mark. Rather amazing, considering I wasn’t even sure if I would be any good at this whole blogging thing. Thank you to everyone who comes here for all your kind comments and support! 🙂

A Tribute to Bernice Liu – Suddenly I See

This here is my latest video, made to the sounds of KT Tunstall‘s Suddenly I See. Since entering the TVB family after winning the 2001 Miss Chinese International Pageant, the gorgeous Bernice has carved quite a name for herself as an actress, singer and dancer in the Hong Kong entertainment world. Her filmography includes Virtues of Harmony I & II, Survivor’s Law, Love Bond, Healing Hands III, Devil’s Disciples, The Brink of Law & The Slicing of the Demon, all of which are highlighted in this video, alongside different clips of her from different events.

It’s no secret that Bernice is one of my favourite female TVB personalities. Her sunny confidence and charismatic disposition is what makes her so well-received, and I hope to show that to its fullest in this video.

Do take a look and let me know what you think. 🙂
